Accepting payment

You can accept credit and debit cards, cash, and checks using MINDBODY Express™ on the iPad. A merchant account is required to complete payment card transactions. You cannot use multiple payment methods per transaction.

Card on file

 

  • To charge a card stored in the client's profile, tap Card on File (1).
  • If the client would like to leave a tip, or sign for the purchase, pass the iPad to them. They’ll pick a tip amount (if applicable), sign for the purchase, and then press Next (2). Note: Tips are available only when you check out an appointment.
  • If the client will not be leaving a tip, and does not want to sign for the purchase, tap Skip signature in the top right corner of the screen (3), and then confirm your choice. Even if a tip amount was selected on the signature screen, it will not be added to the purchase total.
  • Choose an email receipt option, and enter the client’s email address if necessary. Then, tap Process Sale (4). 
  • Or, if the customer decides to change payment methods before processing the sale, just tap the back button at the top left to return to the Check Out screen.

 

       

 

Swiping cards

  • To swipe a payment card, make sure the mobile card swiper is plugged in to your iPad. You'll know it's connected if you have the option to swipe a card on the Check Out screen.
  • To continue, tap Swipe Credit Card (1).
  • You’ll see a message that says “Connecting to swiper . . .” When the swiper is ready, the message will say, “Swipe Away!” (2). Then, swipe the card.
  • Pass the iPad to your customer, who will use a fingertip to sign for the purchase. If you are checking out an appointment, and you have tips enabled, the client can add a tip, too. The customer will then press I Agree to complete the sale (3).
  • Choose an email receipt option, and enter the client’s email address if necessary. Then, tap Process Sale (4). 
  • Or, if the customer decides to change payment methods before processing the sale, just tap the back button at the top left to return to the Check Out screen. Choose a new payment method, or hit the orange cancel button at the top left to cancel the payment.

 

      

 

 

Keying in cards

  • To continue, tap Key in Credit Card (1).
  • Type in the card number, expiration date, and CVV code. Once you've entered the payment information, tap the blue checkout button at the top right (2).
  • The customer will sign for the purchase. If you are checking out an appointment, and you have tips enabled, they can add a tip, too. The customer will then press I Agree to complete the sale (3).
  • Choose an email receipt option, and enter the client’s email address if necessary. Then, tap Process Sale (4). 
  • Or, if the customer decides to change payment methods before processing the sale, just tap the back button at the top left to return to the Check Out screen. Choose a new payment method, or hit the orange cancel button at the top left to cancel the payment.

 

       

 

Cash

  • To collect payment in cash, tap Cash (1).
  • Type the amount tendered into the keypad, then tap the blue checkout button at the top right (2).
  • If you want to send the client an email receipt, tap Email Receipt and make sure the client’s email is entered in the field below. Just tap the email field and use the keypad to enter a new address. If you do not want to send a receipt, tap No Receipt.
  • To continue and complete the sale, tap Process Sale (3).
  • The system will calculate the amount of change you owe the customer. Tender the change due to your customer, and tap Done to finish.
  • Or, if the customer decides to change payment methods before processing the sale, just tap the back button at the top left to return to the Check Out screen.
  • Choose a new payment method, or hit the orange cancel button at the top left to cancel the payment.

 

       

 

Check

  • To collect payment by check, tap Check (1).
  • Then type the check number into the keypad and tap the blue checkout button at the top right (2).
  • If you want to send the client an email receipt, tap Email Receipt and make sure the client’s email is entered in the field below. Just tap the email field and use the keypad to enter a new address. If you do not want to send a receipt, tap No Receipt.
  • To continue and complete the sale, tap Process Sale (3). Tap Done to finish.
  • Or, if the customer decides to change payment methods before processing the sale, just tap the back button at the top left to return to the Check Out screen.
  • Choose a new payment method, or hit the orange cancel button at the top left to cancel the payment. 

 

     

 

Gift cards

  • To collect payment by prepaid gift card, tap Gift Card (1).
  • Then swipe the gift card, or type in the gift card number using the keypad. Next, tap the checkout button at the top right (2).
  • Pass the handset to your customer so that he or she can use a fingertip to sign for the purchase. The customer will then press I Agree to complete the sale (3). This screen will also tell your customer how much will be left on the gift card after the purchase.
  • If there are insufficient funds on the gift card, the app will let you know that you need to add an additional form of payment. Click Add Payment to continue (4).
  • Choose the additional payment method your customer wants to use (5), and enter the payment information.
  • Choose an email receipt option and enter the client’s email address, if necessary. Then, tap Process Sale (6).
  • Tap Done to finish.
  • Or, if the customer decides to change payment methods before processing the sale, just tap the back button at the top left to return to the Check Out screen.
  • Choose a new payment method, or hit the orange cancel button at the top left to cancel the payment.

      

           

 

Account 

  • To collect payment by account, tap Account (1).
  • Choose an email receipt option, and enter the client’s email address if necessary. Then, tap Process Sale (2).
  • Tap Done to finish.
  • Or, if the customer decides to change payment methods before processing the sale, just tap the back button at the top left to return to the Check Out screen.
